Portraits of a King: Edward VI
King Edward VI ruled England from 1547 until 1553. Before, during and after his reign there were hundreds of portraits and sketches made of him. I’ve searched and searched for as many color portraits and black and white images that I could find. I know these aren’t ALL of them, but quite a few nonetheless. Sourcing these images was sometimes impossible, so our apologies on those that we could not properly source.
Please enjoy this post for what it is – images of the third Tudor king…Edward VI. Take this as an opportunity to do more research on your own and see what you can learn about the young king.

The sketch whose credit is given as Francesco Bartolozzi/NPG D18950 may actually be by Hans Holdbein, the younger.
His hair is various colors and his ear changes shape.
Never knew there was so many, wow. Looks don’t seem to change in them, like some monarchs paintings do. Thanks for sharing.
Beautifully put together.
